TransGo 4L60E-3 Reprogramming Kit with manual shift control (Gear Command option) for 1993-08 GM vehicles with 4L60E, 4L65E and 4L70E transmissions. It gives full manual control of upshifts and downshifts, 1st through 4th gear, with no automatic shift functions, for off-road vehicles without TCM control.

How it works
Common complaints on this transmission are TCC slip or shudder, code P1870 or P0894, harsh 1-2 shift, double bump shifts, 2-3 flare, burnt 3-4 clutch plates and inconsistent pressure boost. The kit addresses burnt 2-4 band and 3-4 clutch plates, burnt forward and low/reverse clutch plates, and pump and valve bore wear from erratic pump slide bounce.
The kit gives short, firm shifts. The internal vacuum modulator setup and the .500 in boost valve (both supplied) provide an aggressive line pressure curve and regulation without a TCM. The instructions include the procedure to convert back to a factory or aftermarket TCM.
On 1993-2006 models without the input speed sensor, the kit can be installed with the transmission in the vehicle. The included #7-CS 3-4 clutch piston return spring kit for the input drum reduces centrifugal 3-4 clutch apply and failure in 1st gear at 5500 RPM or higher; it requires transmission removal.
The kit has no provisions for torque converter clutch operation. To run a TCC, wire it to a toggle switch (parts and instructions not supplied). For a converter with no clutch, #4L6-CCV (not included) is advised for maximum coupling and cooling.

Notes
This kit delivers short firm shifts for performance as well as greater overall durability, it is designed for the off-road driver only and for vehicles that do not have any TCM controls.
It’s all about providing the required gears when there are no computer controls.
2007 and later models equipped with the input speed sensor require transmission removal.
This kit also includes #7-CS 3-4 clutch piston return spring kit for the input drum which reduces centrifugal 3-4 clutch apply and failure in 1 st gear at 5500 RPM or higher, transmission removal required.
On the other hand, if you are going to install a converter with NO clutch, then the installation of # 4L6-CCV (not included in the 4L60E-3 kit, requires transmission removal) is advised for maximum coupling and cooling.
