The Drum Buddy is a bench-top spring compressor made in the USA by Adapt-A-Case. It works with 4T65E, AX4S, AX4N, 5R110W, 4R100, 4L60E and other units.

How it works

On a 4T65E intermediate drum there is only about .040 in of compression before the return spring retainer begins to bind the snap ring, which is hard to control with a foot press. The Drum Buddy's oversized tri-knob threads down easily and holds its position, so both hands are free and you can stop partway to tend to something else.

The wide-open design leaves room to work the snap ring and pliers. It is a heavy-duty design built for daily use.
