Product Description
Input Shaft; NP242/247, 4 5/16"
Transtar Aftermarket part number 361670B for the NP242 transfer case.
Applications
NP242 was used in:
- Jeep Cherokee XJ, Wagoneer XJ (Limited) (1987-2001), 4WD
- Jeep Comanche MJ (1987-1992), 4WD
- Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ (1993-1998), 4WD
- Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ (1999-2004), 4WD
- Jeep Liberty KJ (2002-2007), 4WD
- Dodge Dakota, Durango (1998-2000), 4WD
Check before ordering: many transfer cases changed parts by year, drive (2WD/4WD) and version. Confirm your unit by its ID tag. (1) Aluminum ID tag bolted to the rear case half reads 242 (J = Jeep, D = Dodge variants) with an assembly number and 2.72:1 low range. (2) Shifter has 5 positions: 2WD, 4 Part-Time, 4 Full-Time, N, 4 Lo - an NP231 has only 2WD/4Hi/N/4Lo; this is the fastest way to tell 242 from the look-alike NP231 in the same Jeeps. Call us with your tag and VIN if unsure.
