The 3-piece tool set removes the worn axle bushing and gives an indexed reinstallation of the SuperTuff bushing. The two-sided driver head also installs the included seal.

Why it fails

A common complaint in 6F35 and 6T40 series transmissions is ATF leaking from the axle area on the driver's side. This is usually caused by a worn axle or case bushing, and it can lead to seal failure and the shifting complaints or slippage typical of a low fluid level.

The original bushing fails mainly from stress and a lack of lubrication to the bushing surface and CV axle stub shaft. The SuperTuff bushing is 23% wider than the original for more support, Teflon coated for durability, and has a lube window that lets more oil in for better lubrication. It is designed to prevent premature wear and the resulting leak at the axle seal.
