How it works

It tightens the shift cycle without losing friction modification at lock-up, softens harsh shifts, reduces operating temperature, increases the fluid's ability to transfer heat, stops foaming and oxidation, and keeps valves and governors free.

Its liquid wax esters (LXE) have natural lubricity, a high viscosity index and high flash and fire points, and are not affected by repeated heating to 570°F. This patented technology replaces the sperm whale oil used in ATF before the Endangered Species Act of 1972. The base oils are high viscosity index petroleum stocks plus polyalphaolefin synthetic fluid; no viscosity index improvers are used.

Overheating is considered the leading cause of transmission failure. Each 10°F drop in fluid temperature is reported to double fluid life, and each 20°F reduction to double transmission life. The optimum range is considered 150 to 190°F, while front-wheel drive transmissions may run at 225 to 250°F.

Add 1 oz. (29.6 mL) per quart (liter) of DEXRON III, VI/MERCON ATF to the total transmission capacity, including the torque converter, with the engine idling in park.
