Why it fails
The boost valve bore wears at the large land, which is the reaction area for throttle pressure. Throttle pressure acts on the boost valve, which acts on the pressure regulator valve to raise line pressure. A worn bore is the main cause of the common reverse band burn-up.
Line pressure has to rise enough to give clamping force under all loads, preventing slip and keeping shift quality. A compromised boost valve causes soft shifts, burnt frictions and TCC slip.
The USA-made hardened steel boost valve has a repositioned, longer land, so it works even with substantial bore wear. Corrects or reduces: burnt reverse band, soft shifts and burnt friction elements, lazy or erratic pressure rise, and TCC slip.
What's included
- USA-made hardened boost valve
- USA-made hardened boost plug
- Boost valve tapered spring
Notes
Adequate main line pressure rise is required to provide enough clamping force under all load conditions to prevent slipping, as well as to achieve proper shift quality.
