About the 948TE
The 948TE (9 forward speeds, 480 N-m, transverse mounting, electronic control) was introduced for the 2014 model year and is built at the Kokomo and Tipton, Indiana plants under license from ZF. It can be configured for front-wheel, all-wheel or four-wheel drive and sits behind the 2.4 liter MultiAir L4 or 3.2 liter V6.
It is used in the Jeep Cherokee, Renegade and Compass, the Chrysler 200 and Pacifica, the Ram Promaster (Doblo) and the Fiat 500X and Toro. The similar ZF9HP48 is found in various Acura and Honda models, the Land Rover Evoque and Discovery Sport and the Jaguar E-Pace.
