Product Description

TransGo hot-forged 1045 steel, fully CNC machined overdrive pressure plate for 1999 to 2019 Chrysler, Dodge, RAM and Jeep vehicles with 45RFE, 545RFE, 65RFE, 66RFE and 68RFE transmissions. It adds capacity to the overdrive clutch pack and is a direct fit in the OEM drum, so no aftermarket drum is needed.

Why the overdrive clutch fails

These transmissions are prone to overdrive clutch failure when engine output is increased. Tuners, plug-in programmers and other engine modifications can raise output torque significantly, which puts more load on the transmission. Factory overdrive clutch capacity is borderline even at stock power, so the slightest weakness in pressure control or a small torque increase can make the overdrive clutch fail.

With this pressure plate you can add two overdrive frictions in single sided setups or one in double sided setups. In a single sided setup like the 68RFE, the new stack up gives a 15% increase in surface area; in a double sided setup like the 545RFE, a 25% increase.

It corrects, prevents or reduces overdrive clutch failure, flare on the shift during OD clutch application, a slipping overdrive clutch and premature OD clutch failure with added engine torque, and gives a broader OD clutch safety margin.
