TransGo EPC solenoid repair kit with tools for 1993 to 2003 GM vehicles with the 4L60E transmission. It lets you take apart the pressure control solenoid, restore the valve bore and replace the spool valve, spring and cap, with enough parts to rebuild 4 solenoids.

Why it fails
These transmissions often come in with contaminated pressure control solenoids. The computer varies the solenoid current to tailor line pressure rise to the calculated load, and adequate line rise is needed for clamping force and shift quality. A compromised solenoid causes soft or flare shifts, slipping, burnt frictions, a burnt lock-up clutch, TCC slip, and gear ratio, shift and solenoid performance codes.
Rebuilding the solenoid is an economical alternative to buying new ones, provided the existing solenoid has the correct ohm reading. The tools are reusable. If you already have them, the refill kit is TransGo # 4L6-SOL-4.

Notes
Adequate main line pressure rise is required to provide enough clamping force under all load conditions to prevent slipping, as well as to achieve proper shift quality.
Not compatible with 2004 and newer style pressure control solenoids.
