Product Description

Alto Red Eagle 3-4 clutch PowerPack (057757BHP) for GM 700R4, 4L60E, 4L65E and 4L70E transmissions, made in the USA by Alto Products Corp. This extra capacity pack is for hi-performance, street rod and race applications.

Red Eagle frictions with Kolene steels give a much shorter and firmer 2-3 shift.

How it works

The extra plates spread the apply and energy loads over more friction surface area, which helps prevent premature friction distress or burn-up. They also increase clutch pack resiliency (clutch pack accumulation), so the 3-4 clutch applies and releases more smoothly.

Setting clearance: after assembling the 3-4 clutch pack, air check it several times to seat all components. Insert a feeler gauge between the top friction plate and the bottom of the top backing plate. For good 2-3 and 3-2 shift performance, Alto recommends a 3-4 clutch pack clearance of .025 in - .040 in.

If there is too much clearance, remove one or two of the .060 in steels and install one or two of the standard .076 in steels furnished. If it is too tight on units where the stepped apply plate has been discarded, use another .125 in flat apply plate (not furnished) at the top of the pack in place of the original #3 or #7 backing plate. The top backing plates, steel plates and top snap rings can be intermixed or exchanged to reach the recommended clearance.
