TransGo drop-in steel reverse abuse bore plugs for 1993 and newer GM 4L60E, 4L65E and 4L70E valve bodies. The plug is longer and slightly bigger than the OE plug, which virtually eliminates the plug leak that burns 3-4 clutches. Enough parts are included to fix five units.

Why it fails
The reverse abuse plug separates and seals the 3-2 downshift valve from the reverse abuse valve. In third gear, 3-4 clutch oil goes between the 3-2 downshift valve and the plug to stroke the valve toward the spring. With spring force on one side and 3-4 clutch oil on the other, the plug moves slightly in its bore each time the oil comes and goes.
The soft factory aluminum plug, loosely held by a roll pin, wears over time and lets 3-4 clutch oil leak into the side that is open to the sump. The leak is downstream of an orifice feeding the 3-4 clutch, so it can cause a 2-3 shift flare or 2-3 shift overlap and slowly kills the 3-4 clutch.
The TransGo plug is made from harder material with a greater interference fit to stay in place. A threaded hole in one end and the long bolt supplied make installation easy.
