Why it fails
These remanufactured units often come in with TCC slip or shudder, code P1870 or P0894, and a harsh 1-2 shift. The TCC regulator valve bore wears easily, causing TCC slip. When the ECM sees the slip, it commands high line pressure to prevent further slip and damage, which causes the harsh 1-2 upshift.
GM remanufactured units usually have valve bodies machined for a larger .472 in diameter TCC regulator and isolator valve. Over time those wear the bore the same way the original valve did, and the same complaints return.
The patented, oversized, USA-made hardened steel isolator valve drops in and restores the hydraulic integrity of the circuit by riding on previously unused, unworn areas of the bore. It can be used without the included spring in vehicles with active fuel management (AFM).
