About the transmission

The 10R80 and 10L80/90 were co-engineered by Ford and General Motors and introduced for the 2017 model year. They are rear-wheel-drive ten-speed transmissions with full electronic controls, four planetary gearsets, two multi-disc holding clutches, four multi-plate drive clutches, a one-way clutch, a main valve body control unit and a torque converter with an internal clutch, giving ten forward speeds and one reverse gear.

They are found behind the 2.7, 3.0, 3.5 and 5.0 liter engines in a number of Ford and GM cars and trucks.
