Directions
Inserts: Install the rubber angled inserts into the 195743B183 slotted teeth. Make sure the long ends are toward the inside diameter of the plate.
3-5-Rev: 4 Friction Drum
Install the cushion spring that rides on the apply piston. Then install an externally splined friction plate with the friction lining facing up followed by an internally splined friction plate with the friction lining facing up. Continue stacking external and internal friction plates ending with an internal splined plate do not position inserts on top of each other, all of the friction plates must have the lining facing up or the clutch will fail. (5 internal and 5 external plates) Install pressure plate and snap ring.
3-5-Rev: 5 Friction Drum
Remove the cushion spring that rides on the apply piston. Start the stack-up with an externally splined friction plate with the friction lining facing up followed by an internally splined friction plate with the friction lining facing up. Continue stacking external and internal friction plates ending with an internal splined plate do not position inserts on top of each other, all of the friction plates must have the lining facing up or the clutch will fail. (7 internal and 7 external plates) Install pressure plate and snap ring.
Always pre-soak the frictions in the type of ATF recommended by the OE for at least 30 minutes. Check clutch pack clearance between the pressure plate and the top friction plate in 3 different locations, clearance should be .040” to .070” (1.06 – 1.78 mm).
