C3 clutches in Aisin AW TF-80SC and TF-81SC transmissions are applied in 3rd, 5th and Reverse Gears in conjunction with other clutch packs. As the C3 clutch control valve oscillates and strokes over time, bore deterioration results which prevents proper hydraulic control of the C3 clutch pack. This can cause flares, slipping, erratic clutch apply timing, ratio codes, bind-ups and burnt C3 clutches. Reconditioning the bore and installing Sonnax oversized C3 clutch control valve kit 39741-50K restores normal shift operation and feel by re-establishing the hydraulic integrity of the C3 circuit.
