Honda/Acura 9-speed and ZF9HP48 transmissions are equipped with an aluminum sleeve for the A and F dog clutch plunger valve. This material is prone to wear from valve plunger reciprocation. Failure of this sleeve results in a variety of shift problems and solenoid codes. SYMPTOMS

CAUSE
The dog clutch plunger valves provide source pressure for both the A and F dog clutch apply and release. Responding to TCM and the linear solenoid, the clutch control valve establishes control timing of apply and release relative to engine RPM. Bore wear will cause an overlap or premature exhaust of clutch pressure.
CORRECTION
Sonnax drop-in A & F dog clutch plunger valve kit corrects circuit pressure loss and restores control timing of the A and F dog clutch valves.
