In vehicles with ZF8HP50, ZF8HP75 and Chrysler 850RE transmissions, the OE latch valve end plugs are designed to prevent critical solenoid control pressure loss by capping and sealing the bore, while also functioning as a spring retainer. Repetitive spring motion and fluid pressure variations cause wear between the latch valve end plugs and bore surfaces, allowing critical solenoid control pressure to escape the circuit. In the case of these latch valve end plugs, solenoid control fluid is routed to all five of these plugs which exasperates the fluid leakage problem.
